Everyone should be able to afford a decent home, but in rural areas many households are priced out of the local housing market. Competition for a limited social and private rented stock is fierce, and many will have to move from their rural community in order to find a home they can afford.
Providing rural affordable housing helps create a sustainable, thriving communities that are able to meet the needs of families, young people and those on lower incomes. The Government’s localism agenda has put in place the power for rural communities take control over meeting their own needs
